The collar that borrows from the mountains.

Kernmantle rope is the construction choice of climbers — a strong inner core wrapped in a protective woven sheath, built to take load and keep taking it. Ruffwear took that logic and made a collar. The 7mm rope sits low in the fur, and the reflective weave means it's doing quiet work even in low light.

For dogs with longer coats, the rope tends to sit more gently than flat webbing — less pressure, less impression in the fur. Merlyn, a border collie who wore his for years, barely knew it was there. His owner did, though. And it did exactly what they needed it to.

The adjustment is via sliding fisherman's knots rather than a buckle — it takes a moment to learn and then you'll wonder why all collars don't work this way. The aluminium V-ring keeps the lead attachment at the top of the neck, where it belongs.

For the walk where everything just comes together. A matching lead is available.

    A note on collar safety.

Collars are an everyday essential, but it's worth keeping a few things in mind. Remove your dog's collar during play with other dogs, when they're home alone, and when they're in their crate. Check the fit regularly - two fingers between collar and neck is the sweet spot. Stay aware of your dog and their surroundings, and you'll keep the risks where they belong: minimal.
