Does this replace a separate harness?
Yes, completely. The harness is built directly into the structure of the vest - heavy-duty webbing, load-bearing, with both a back V-ring and a front chest attachment point. Put it on, clip your lead, and go. No separate harness needed underneath.
How warm will my dog actually be?
Genuinely warm. 120g high-loft recycled polyester insulation sits inside a fleece lining, with coverage extending over hips and thighs - the areas that lose heat fastest on a cold walk. It's not a light layer; it's built for proper winter temperatures.
Can it handle rough terrain and wet conditions?
Yes. The outer shell is 640 denier polyester with a 1,500mm water-resistant, PFAS-free finish - it sheds rain and repels wet undergrowth without soaking through. The abrasion-resistant construction handles brambles and rough paths without snagging, protecting the insulation underneath so the warmth stays intact.
Is it easy to get on and off?
Very. Side-release buckles mean it clicks on and off in seconds - no wrestling, no fuss. For dogs who find the getting-ready routine a bit much, that matters. For owners heading out on a tight schedule, it matters too.
What about visibility on dark winter afternoons?
Covered. Reflective accents are built into the shell, and there's a dedicated light loop on the back for attaching a Beacon safety light for low-light walks.
Will it fit with other Ruffwear kit?
Yes - it's designed to work as part of the Ruffwear system. The Flagline Harness fits underneath if you prefer a separate harness setup, and the Beacon safety light clips directly onto the vest's light loop.
